Experiencing & Pivoting...

It’s been a minuteeeeeeee since I last wrote. So much has happened, honestly too much to remember and capture but all for the better.
The last couple of years have been inclusive of career transitions, personal pivots and more. In my last blog post (2023), I think I highlighted that I got a dream job and became a corporate girlie. Loved her, until I couldn't anymore. It was an INCREDIBLE experience. I made tons of connections, gained lots of exposure within the industry and honestly improved my discipline. That was my first “big girl” job. It molded and stretched me in ways I didn’t know I had the capacity. I reached a breaking point though and revelation where I could not show up as my true (young, gifted and black WOMAN) self, and it showed in my spirit, my work and my relationships.
After 2 and half years, I was forced to pivot and faced the reality of figuring out what’s next. Since March of 2024, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing….FIGURING IT OUT. There’s been a lot of lows, but there have been an incredible amount of highs. Some I still can’t believe.

While still curating casual gatherings here and there, I’ve stepped into the world of live event production which has always been a dream of mine. The roles in that industry have such a wide range. Everyone plays a part in creating this one big operating machine. I've been able to produce and coordinate programming for events. Also, done a few talent management projects as well as hospitality arranging. It's a lot of work, many sleepless nights, can take months/years for one project, but it's very rewarding.
I try to constantly remind myself to just show up, everyday, even if it doesn't look/feel the best. I’m always gracefully pushing myself to ensure the projects I work on align with my values and ultimately create a positive and meaningful impact. I’m really looking forward to a few upcoming projects. I never really know what’s next.

Each day looks different in this world of freelance work. But what I do know is that if I continue to stay true to what I believe in, put my best foot forward, and trust in God’s plan…it will all work out.
With gratitude,
Elise
